BJP fields top union ministers to run Assam election campaign

At a strategic level, Bhartiya Janta Party decided to not to centralize campaigns poll around Modi,Prime Minister but campaign for Assam Assembly election, the Union Ministers are still being roped in.

Assam Nirman, this series of dialogues will be addressed by Union Minister in the State with the people from the group across 6 cities. In Guwahati, first will be conducted by Nirmala Sitharaman, Commerce Minister.

Arun Jaitley, Finance Minister had to attend this programme but now in Lal Bari he will be attending next one. The conversation will focus on allocation of funds and development of economy for the north-eastern States.

“And certain changes that have been made in the rules governing devolution of funds,” said a senior office-bearer of the party in Assam.

In Dibrugarh, Rajnath Singh Union Home Minister addressed a session on the topic of illegal immigration. Dharmendra Pradhan Petroleum Minister in Jorhat spoke about tea gardens issues.

For the Congress vote share have been committed for the workers of Tea Garden (in 2014 2 seat of Belt of Tea Garden went to Bhartiya Janta Party.

“The politics there is called Kambal-khota; just before elections, kambal (blankets) and implements for weaving khotas or gamcha (traditional stoles) are handed out by the Congress,” the office-bearer said.

“We are determined to make inroads there.”In Silchar, Suresh Prabhu, Railway Minister addressed 2 sessions and in Tezpur, Maneka Gandhi, Women and Child Development Minister there was a cultural hub.

Only local faces’ are determined to project by the party. It seems‘The big guns from its arsenal’ to be pulled out by the party as the polls are approaching.
