Rahul Gandhi, Congress Vice President after a day visit made a hurricane in his two day tour of upper Assam. According to Tarun Gogoi,C chief minister said that Signals are clear that the winds in Assam polls is favoring Congress.

“The manner in which the visit of AICC vice-president Rahul Gandhi to Assam evoked spontaneity and enthusiasm among the people, it clearly indicates that the wind is blowing in favor of the Congress,” Gogoi in a statement said.

According to Gogoi , In Gohpur, Bihpuria, Titabor and Sivasagar, apart from taking part in a six-km his two-day tour also addressed meetings. ‘Acche din’ people of Assam were fed up with the false pre-poll promises of the Modi government. Morever It was clearly noticed that concerning the state there are U turns on major issues. Knowing Congress is the most secular, pro-poor and development oriented party, the people have rallied behind the Congress.

He alleged that In Assam by withdrawing the Special Category status, By suspending the North East Industrial and Investment Promotion Policy, and reducing funds for MNREGA, IAY and other pro-poor schemes, changing the funding pattern of centrally sponsored schemes and flood management programme, BJP has squeezed the flow of funds and Forget acche din and u-turns on major issues concerning the state.

With Bangladesh, pushing back foreigners, on the Lower Subansiri dam and the land-swap deal Gogoi accused Prime Minister Modi of taking U-turns on all important issues. He also added those had brought the BJP government’s policy of double standards to the fore.

“The people of Assam have realised that they were hoodwinked into believing that the prime minister would do something for them but left them in the lurch. This policy of double standards will go against the BJP in the Assembly polls,” Tarun Gogoi claimed.

BJP had entered into an alliance with the Bodo People’s Front (BPF) knowing it was on a sticky wicket, Assam chief minister also said. To defeat the Congress, there is a tacit understanding with the AIUDF and to cobble up an alliance was now moving towards political parties like the AGP.

He also added In order to defeat the Congress, BJP is trying to cobble up an alliance because it is nervous and shaky. People of Assam will rally behind the Congress because during the past 15 years it had ushered in the development and gave them a fitting reply.
