In Kerala, Assembly polls dates are expected to be announced in few days,the political parties are gearing up for the upcoming elections, the list of candidates is finalized by the leaders who are engaged in discussion.
In Congress, process of giving the final finishing touches has been speeded up, Oommen Chandy, Chief Minister; United Democratic Front’s lead partner, VM Sudheeran , KPCC President; Ramesh Chennithala, Home Minister are having talks for the ‘district leader’.
Each districts sub-committee has given candidate list of their respective constituencies with more than 6 names approximately from Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee.
In few days, Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee wants to finalize the list and for approval it will be then submitted to party high command said by the sources from Thiruvananthapuram.
On seat sharing, discussions with Front Partners were also progressing.
Indian Union Muslim League, whose the 2nd largest partner UDF, last time had contested 24 seats and are likely to demand more seats.
JD(U) and Kerala Congress (M) and rest other constituencies that had in the last polls contested for 6 and 15 seats ,have demanded more and more seats. In UDF, KC-J and RSP are among the other parties that are in minorities.
Deliberations are also going on in full-swing in CPI-M, which heads the LDF opposition, in finalising the candidates.
Achuthanandan vs state Opposition leader and CPI-M veteran candidature are main discussion topics in the party.
As per reports, the focus of debate is whether both 93-year-old Achuthanandan and politburo member Pinarayi Vijayan should contest the polls and who should lead the Front campaign.
Sitaram Yechury, Party General Secretary had attended the party secretariat and in the state and the issue of candidates were discussed.
In the coming days,from the party district committee will meet again and will discuss on the candidates.
In 2011, 93 seats had been contested by CPI-M.
