Congress MLA from Dhuri in Punjab Arvind Khanna Resigns

Arvind Khanna, PPCC former General Secretary who is in close aide of Amarinder Singh,senior party leader resigns as MLA from Dhuri Assembly segment of Sangrur parliamentary seat as the Lok Sabha elections got over, the disappointment in Punjab Congress came ahead.

Khanna said in a post on Facebook that he has given his resignation to the Speaker of the State Assembly and still did not clarified that he will resign from the primary membership of Congress or not.

He also said that the time has come when he has “to step away from politics.

Khanna said about the rumors of joining SAD that he did not do it because Amarinder Singh was announced as the nominee from Congress for the Amritsar Lok Sabha seat and decision of his would have had unfavorable effect on the former Chief Minister’s prospects.

Khanna was not available for any comments in-spite of repeated attempts to contact him via phone. Rocky Gill, Personal Assistant (PA) of Khanna, confirmed his resignation.

As per the sources of the party, Khanna was not happy when Vijay Inder Singla , MP ignored him and other senior leaders of Assembly segments while distributing MPLAD funds and launching development projects.

Singla has wanted re-election from Sangrur parliamentary constituency.

As per the sources of the party Khanna was not very happy after Pratap Singh Bajwa was elected as PPCC chief.

In Punjab Assembly of 117-member, Congress is now reduced to 43. SAD has 57 members while its alliance , BJP has 12 and there are three Independents.
