Arvind Kejriwal, Delhi Chief Minister in Golden Temple’s community kitchen, washed the dishes as an apology after, AAP was criticised for illustrating Sikh shrine’s image with the AAP’s symbol broom in its ‘youth manifesto’.
Arvind Kejriwal, who had arrived in the city for “his act of penance” washed the utensils for 45 minutes in community kitchen and then went to “sanctum sanctorum to pay obeisance.” Kejriwal sat on the floor for half an hour outside the sanctum sanctorum in order to listen to the religious hymns.
“I had come here for ‘sewa’ (voluntary religious service) to apologize if we had knowingly or unknowingly committed any mistake in our youth manifesto. I listened to the ‘shabad kirtan’ here that gave me immense pleasure. Now I feel peace of mind,” he told reporters.
Under Section 295-A, Ashish Khetan, AAP spokesperson, was booked (for hurting religious sentiments) by the police of Amritsar, was also with Kejriwal.
Aam Aadmi Party, has been campaigning very aggressively for Punjab Assembly elections that are going to take place next year. After the release of party’s youth manifesto it “courted controversy” on the front page, it displayed picture of AAP symbol, broom along with that of Golden Temple that had hurt and annoyed various Sikh religious and political outfits , demanded apology from Arvind Kejriwal.
For comparing AAP’s manifesto with Guru Granth Sahib, holy book of Sikhs and other religious books like Gita, troubles are faced by Khaitan.
Kejriwal had commented about ruling SAD-BJP allaince, that they were feeling “jittery” due to the AAP’s success in Punjab and had planned a conspiracy to disgrace the name of the party.
