Punjab Police Questions Naresh Yadav For His Involvment In Malerkotla Sacrilege

Naresh Yadav, AAP legislator from Delhi was enquired by Sangrur Police in regards with the “Malerkotla sacrilege” incident during which he accused the policemen of not behaving properly with him.

However, Police had charged Naresh Yadav with not cooperating with them and said they may approach court for his arrest warrant.

Sucha Singh Chhotepur, AAP’s Punjab convener and Himmat Singh Shergill, AAP leader accompanied Yadav, they came before Sangrur police for the second time in order to join the investigation.

According to the officals, for more than 8 hours, he was questioned. On 5th July, Yadav was questioned for 5 hours.

Yadav said that police did not behaved properly with him during questioning, after coming out of Crime Investigation Agency (CIA) wing of Sangrur police.

“I cooperated with police during questioning but they misbehaved with me. They asked me improper questions and in an indecent way. I have already said that I am available for investigation whenever police calls me,” Mr Yadav said.

Denying Yadav’s allegation, Pritpal Singh Thind, Sangrur SSP said that it is completely wrong. It is a serious case which we are investigating.There is nothing political in it. Thind accused Yadav of being not cooperative with the police.

Thind said that Yadav did not cooperated with the police. He was not able to give replies to their questions. Yadav’s answers were different from what he had given to the same questions when he was asked earlier.

Asked if police sees any role of the legislator in Malerkotla incident, he said, “From questioning, so far, I feel that he (Yadav) was involved.””I cooperated with police during questioning but they misbehaved with me. They asked me improper questions and in an indecent way. I have already said that I am available for investigation whenever police calls me,” Mr Yadav said.

Pritpal Singh Thind, Sangrur SSP refused Yadav’s allegation and said that it is not right. This is a serious case of investigation and nothing political in it is there.

Thind accused Yadav of being not cooperative with the police.

“He did not cooperate with us. He could not give replies to our questions. Today his answers were different from what he had given to the same questions asked earlier,” the SSP said.

He added that from questioning it seems that Yadav was involved when he was asked, if police sees any role of Yadav in Malerkotla incident.

Thind said that in a day or two, a decision regarding Yadav’s arrest or calling him again for investigation will be taken.Thind said when he was asked whether police will arrest Yadav or not.

“We are investigating the matter and we are collecting evidence which will be presented in a court to seek his arrest warrant. Or we may also call him again to join investigation. A decision regarding what course of action we adopt will be taken in a day or two,” he said.

Yadav had claimed that he was knowingly drawn into the case because of political conspiracy.

Yadav said that during the investigation he will cooperate with the police.

Under IPC, relevant sections, Yadav had been “booked” after Vijay Kumar’s arrest, in June 24 Malerkotla sacrilege incident as he claimed that he had done all this under the instructions of Yadav.
