Sukhpal Singh Khaira, AAP leader complained to the Election Commission of India against Bholath Bibi Jagir Kaur, MLA for allegedly putting pressure on voters to vote for SAD-BJP while collecting data by a surveying company.
Sukhpal Khaira in his complaint said that the employees of the surveying company were visiting houses. They were asking people of their voting preferences and their phone numbers.
“I apprehend that the said company is conducting such an intensive survey at the behest of Sukhbir Singh Badal, so that they can influence the voters in their favour.”
He added that the company has passed on data to leaders of the ruling party. He has received complaints that voters are being put under pressure by the local MLA and her team of Sarpanches and Jathedars. They are being asked why they were choosing to vote for the AAP in the upcoming elections.
“ The voters are being threatened, intimidated and coerced to make a commitment to vote for the ruling SAD-BJP combine in 2017 polls,” he said.
He further added that such companies surveys are a small percentage of the voters in a constituency. However, in this case they visited every house in his constituency.
