India Today-Axis Survey Predicts BJP on Top in Uttar Pradesh; Top 10 Predictions

Amid the fight for crown in five states that are going for the poles, India Today – Axis survey came up with a bunch of interesting predictions out of their survey conducted in polling states. The survey forecasts a hung Assembly in Uttar Pradesh with BJP the top gainer, and a major boost to the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) in Punjab. While the survey strongly suggests Congress to overpower BJP-Akali alliance in Punjab, the BJP is likely replace Congress in Uttarakhand and retain Goa.

  1. In Uttar Pradesh, the BJP alliance is expected to touch clinch 180-191 seats, but will still be short of the 202 majority mark.
  2. The survey predicts thumbs up for SP-Congress combine. As the alliance seems working in favor, the duo together is expected to script victory on 168-178 seats. With 39-43 seats in kitty, the survey predicts Mayawati led BSP on third.
  3. In Punjab, the survey predicts Congress to snatch the power from incumbent BJP-Akali by gaining 60-65 of the 117 seats in the state.
  4. With predicted 41-44 seats in their kitty, AAP is all set to shuffle the poll algorithm. They are reducing the ruling Akali Dal-BJP combine to a margin of 11-15 seats.
  5. In Goa, the BJP may retain the power, predicts the survey. The saffron party is expected to clinch 22-25 seats in the 40-member Assembly while the Congress may bag 12-14.
  6. Arvind Kejriwal’s AAP may end up with merely a couple of seats in their bag. The party, though, entered the Goa electoral battle with a steady and impressive pitch.
  7. In Uttarakhand, the BJP is all set to retain the power yet again. The survey suggests 40-44 seats to the saffron party in the 70-member House.
  8. The incumbent Congress, which had witnessed a series of dissidence in the party, may lose the state by limiting its tally at 23-27 while the BSP may win a couple of seats.
  9. The India Today- Axis survey was conducted between January 13-30, 2017.
  10. Punjab and Goa are going to pools on February 4. Uttarakhand on February 15 while the seven-phase Uttar Pradesh polls will be held between February 11 and March 8.
