After Raj Babbar’s appointed as the new Congress chief of U.P, BJP said that it is very clear now that Congress in Uttar Pradesh will continue to work as the ‘B’ team of Samajwadi Party.
Specifying Raj Babbar’s ‘Samajwadi’ background, Vijay Bahadur Pathak, BJP spokesman said that in the state by appointing Raj Babbar and Imran Masood to top party posts.
“Congress has given a clear message that it would continue to work as the ‘B’ team of the Samajwadi Party”, said Vijay Bahadur Pathak
Pathak was referring to Raj Babbar, actor-turned-politician whose contesting election of Lok Sabha from Lucknow, on ticket of Samajwadi Party ticket in 2004 against Atal Bihari Vajpayee, former Prime Minister.
In the run-up of 2014 general elections, Masood had “courted controversy” for his “inflammatory speeches” against Narendra Modi, BJP’s prime ministerial candidate.
Congress appointed Raj Babbar, president of the Congress Uttar Pradesh unit while Masood was named as one of the four senior vice-presidents under him.
Uttar Pradesh is scheduled to go to Assembly elections in 2017.
