By inducting Swami Prasad Maurya, expelled BSP general secretary in BJP, the party has expressed its confidence of winning upcoming Uttar Pradesh Assembly polls.
“Taking note of the enthusiasm in the BJP workers post Swamy Prasad Maurya joining the party, I can say with conviction that the BJP will achieve absolute majority in 2017,” Uttar Pradesh BJP chief Keshav Prasad Maurya told ANI here.
In a move to disturb Mayawati ahead of the upcoming assembly polls, Swami Prasad Maurya joined the BJP. Maurya said that this is a new home for him. He was in the BSP because it was formed by Kanshi Ram. He was influenced by Bhimrao Ambedkar’s work for the upliftment of Dalits.
Swami, The Padrauna MLA is the leader of opposition in Uttar Pradesh Assembly. He had left the BSP and accused Mayawati of selling poll tickets and deceiving the Dalit community.
Earlier, there were rumours of Maurya joining Samajwadi Party.
