After the meeting, Narendra Modi said that in the dam of Bundelkhand there is water now and now measures are to be taken in order to distribute water.

“There is enough water in the dams of Bundelkhand. We need tankers to lift it. A train will not be able to reach those villages,” Mr Yadav said.

Bundelkhand , more than half lies in Uttar Pradesh in the region of drought and in the region of elections, that are just one year away, the meeting was important.

Centre wants to take strong , visible steps and long term measures for the region which is frequently disturbed by drought. Samajwadi Party government is not ready to let BJP work under its watch.

The Centre had send a water train to the region, but it kept standing at the Jhansi station.  Uma Bharti, Water Resources Minister  said that she had send a letter to Akhilesh Yadav questioning why the train that was asked from Madhya Pradesh was not accpted. Bundelkhand has 13 districts ranging over Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh.

However, Akhilesh Yadav replied back with the letter stating that in there is water reservoirs in Bundelkhand, it needed 10,000 tankers for transporting not a train in the areas facing drought.

But on the ground water still remain in small amounts. In Mahoba’s Karara Khurd village, 25 of the 30 bore wells have run dry. The 4,000 litre water tanker is not enough for the 300 villagers here.

Ganga Charan Rajput, BJP leader said that refusing the water in U.P. Is it doing the right thing. They never said anything when Akhilesh Yadav had distributed the food to areas affected with drought but why are they are not accepting water for the people, who needs it badly.
