Shatrughan Sinha, lawmaker of BJP had given the name of Varun Gandhi as BJP’s new face in Uttar Pradesh for the upcoming elections next year.
“It is my personal opinion and not that of the party. He (Varun Gandhi) is a young, good and committed party leader,” he told reporters on the sidelines of a book launch in Patna”.
He added that its the party’s parliamentary board that will decide whether to project someone as the Chief Ministeral Candidate for the UP polls or not.
The Parliamentary board’s decision would be final for me,” he said when asked about his take on Mr Gandhi’s projection for Uttar Pradesh Assembly polls.
Sinha, who has mostly supported Varun Gandhi as BJP’s face in Uttar Pradesh, also added that he is not comparing Varun Gandhi with any of the BJP leader. There were many leaders in BJP who are capable of being Chief ministeral candidate.

Sinha said that Rajnath Singh ,Union Home Minister is equally capable of being the chief ministeral face of BJP in Uttar Pradesh.
“Rajnath Singh is my close friend. He has held every important post. He is the man who worked as a party worker to become national president. Who else can be better than Rajnath Singh,” Mr Sinha asked.
Keshav Prasad Maurya, UP party chief and Yogi Adityanath , Gorakhpur lawmaker was also named by Sinha who can be the possible CM candidate for BJP in Uttar Pradesh.
