Shiv Pratap Shukla unit vice president and former state minister of Uttar Pradesh was nominated by BJP for the Rajya Sabha elections on June 11.
Keshav Prasad Maurya, chief of BJP said that Shukla will be BJP’s candidate for the Rajya Sabha, Bhupendra Chaudhary and Daya Shanker Singh will be candidates for the Legislative Council.
BJP has 41 legislators in the Uttar Pradesh Assembly of 403-members , 37 votes are required to win a seat in Rajya Sabha, 32 votes are needed to win a seat in the Council.
31st May is the last date for filing of nominations.
To a question on how the party would ensure success of its second candidate in the Legislative Council, Mr Maurya said, “Wait for the results. We are confident of victory.”
He replied when he was asked about the Assembly elections next year, BJP will be successful in making Uttar Pradesh free from SP and BSP. He said that they will be successful in achieving the target of 265 plus seats and form the next government in UP.

Keshav Maurya said that chief ministerial face of BJP in Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections will be decided by the party’s central parliamentary board.
During the press meet, a number of leaders and workers from different parties joined BJP.
